In order for the drilling rig to start working, you need to place a few items in it: a drill (regular or diamond), a CR or KR scanner, and drilling pipes.

Scanners

The scanners from Industrial Craft 2 come in two types: CR and KR. The difference between them lies in their working radius and energy consumption. The KR scanner works within a radius of 6 blocks and has only 100,000 energy capacity, while the CR scanner works within a radius of 12 blocks but has a capacity of 1,000,000 EU.
